TYPES OF BULLYING

Is rarely the first form of bullying that a target will experience. Often bullying will begin in a different form and progress to physical violence.

Is a means of using words in a negative way such as insults, teasing, put downs, etc., to gain power over someone else's life. Many people's lives have been destroyed by verbal abuse at home, in schools and business settings.

Social or covert bullying involves spreading rumors about another person, purposely leaving someone out of an activity or group or embarrassing a person in public. Another form of bullying that falls into this category involves encouraging others to avoid a certain person or group.

Sexual bullying consists of repeated, harmful and humiliating actions that target a person sexually. Examples include sexual name-calling, crude comments, vulgar gestures, uninvited touching, sexual propositioning and pornographic materials.

Cyberbullying is a kind of bullying that takes place using electronic technology. Electronic technology includes devices and equipment such as cell phones, computers, and tablets as well as communication tools including social media sites, text messages, chat, and websites.


Cyber-bullying is one such problem that the advancement in technology and social media has generated. It can potentially affect not only school-aged children, but also any individual who has access to a mobile phone or the internet.
